The problem you are all having with your Taurus revolvers are most likely due to the ammo, NOT the gun. With a light weight 357, or even 38 special with +p or +p+ loads, the bullet will actually pull from the case during recoil causing the cylinder to lock. This usually happens with rounds that are not crimped well, or when you shoot too heavy a bullet. The heavy bullets have too much inertia, as a light weight 357 snubbie recoils very sharp, and they will pull from the case as they have too much mass to keep up with the rest of the gun. Un-jacketed rounds are extremely prone to this, as are bullets over 125 grains. You will need to try several different types of ammo until you find bullets that are crimped enough to resist pulling. If you are target shooting, use standard velocity 38 special, as they recoil less and will be less likely to pull. Though lead bullets still may pull in a light weight snubbie. Using bullets 125 grains or lighter in 38 special rounds will most likely work better than most, and jacketed bullets with a good crimp should help as well.
To find reliable carry ammo, there is a system to determine if the rounds are acceptable and will resist bullet pull. I will go over the steps you need to follow, and explain them as thoroughly as I can.
1: If you are going to carry .357 mag ammo, select a bullet of 115-125 grains max.
2: Measure a loaded round, and mark it with an x in marker on the bottom, and write down the measurement.]dial calipers will be needed for this, available at most auto parts stores and some hardware stores[
3: Load your cylinder, leaving the marked round to be fired last.
4: Fire all the rounds in the cylinder EXCEPT the one you measured and marked.
5: Reload the cylinder, again leaving the marked round to be fired last.
6: Repeat step 4, and DON''T fire the marked round.
7: Now, measure the marked round again. If it has changed in length, you shouldn''t use that ammo.
This applies to all lightweight pistols, not just the Taurus. I hope I have helped you understand what is happening inside your snubbie.

Agree with everything Manster said about the Taurus 650. I have had only one problem with it. The cylinder locks up after shooting a few full power 158 grain magnum loads. I have read this on other forums as well. I don't know how to fix the problem, maybe someone out there reading this will know. No problem with .38 rounds.

This is a fine pocket sized powerful handgun. A no frills all business handgun that is dependable when you need it. Made for up close and personal work for protection. Designed, as all snubs to be used at distances of thirty to forty feet max. The gun shots accurately at close range. Magnum loads are on the stiff side, but .38+P rounds will work well. I advise using a good 125 grain hollowpoint. This is the best manstopper and expands in the target well. A good addition would be a set of Crimson Trace Lasergrips as well. The LG-385 grips work well. I would have given it 5 stars, if the action was a little smoother. Smith and Wesson's J frames are smoother, but you'll get a fine revolver with the Taurus, for about $250 less.
